Plano to Host Startup Weekend Dallas

by

As you might already know, we’ve been branching out here in DFW. There’s been such an enormous response to build the Startup Weekend (SW) presence that we’ve decided to host events in other cities in the Metroplex, rather than just Dallas. So I’ve reached out to organizers in the Denton area, Plano area, and the Ft. Worth area. All the support that people have lent has brought a tear to my eye.

SW has been growing across the world, spawning new burgs of startup life. As a surprise to many, we’ve even seen it happen in Iran and we’ll soon witness the first one in Iraq in November. Again, tear to my eye.

Some huge new parterships with Microsoft, Google, Domain.com and Uber were recently announced. Through the Bizspark program, MS will boost education and training to cities around the world with Windows 8 bootcamps. Google, which just recently signed a 2-year partnership agreement with SW, has launched Google for Entrepreneurs, designed to help entrepreneurs get access to the tools, resources, programs, and training they need to be successful. Domain.Com is generously offering free web hosting services for SW attendees. And Uber, the on-demand private car service which recently set root in Big D, is working on a deal with SW to provide attendees with discounted fares to and from the event.

Once again, it’s great to have these companies at your side as a startup. Please make use of what they have to offer, let them know how much you appreciate them, and of course, tell them we sent you. More detail will be shared at the events. Which brings me to…

Before I forget, if you’ve been perusing our website recently, you may have seen some events that look to be at the end of December. Fret not, my friends. Those were simply placeholders for a test.

I can now proudly announce to everyone that our next event will be in Plano at the Gravity Center (@Alcatel-Lucent) on November 9-11. Registration is now open.

And if that wasn’t enough, we are working on another event to be hosted in Dallas later this year, probably in the Uptown area.
